Invade A Hospital

I was listening to an interview with Dr. David Ansell, the author of “Life, Death, and Politics at Chicago’s Public Hospitals", and I thought of this picture. What do you think?

  1. I think that Americans need to change how we view health care if its really gonna change.

I mean, I'll admit I am a part of the problem. Unless I am dying I flat out refuse to go anywhere near a doctor person and talk about me... I had nightmares and panic attacks about going to the gyn when I was going...

Americans see medicine as optional, or for the privileged. Having a father in a Union and a mother in a very steady job told me this much. I didn't like it, but I was always going to the Dentist or Orthodontist or Maxilofacial surgeon when I was young. Why? Because my parents had full medical and dental on either side, and so I got the best in oral care. But I wasn't a sick kid, so I didn't go to the doctors. I am sure I could have, but it never seemed necessary. And I had tons of friends who had never been to a DENTISTS in there entire life.

That was my definition of upper middle class; health care. I bet its a lot of peoples definition.

If we can revisit the concept, and change the established view that health care is optional, or preventative care is a luxury, and in the silent majority specifically; get them to believe it will save American economics (there is a school of thought that says health care is America's last produce-able good) Then we might be able to vote in a policy that secures health for the lot of us.

I also thing the media and hollywood should start portraying actors getting preventative - less invasive health care.
